LOCKN’ Presents Over $30,000 in Charitable Donations on #GivingTuesday

Every year, LOCKN’ opens its hearts and arms to welcome Participation Row, a social action village featuring non-profit organizations of all shapes and sizes. At an official ceremony on #GivingTuesday, November 29, at the historic Hayloft Barn on the LOCKN’ Festival site, LOCKN’ presented checks for nearly $30,000 to more than a dozen non-profit orgs, including a check of $11,142.50 to the John C. Holland III Memorial Scholarship at VA’s Nelson County High School.

We want to take a moment to say THANK YOU to everyone that helped make this happen! Participation Row at LOCKN’ serves as host and hub for a variety of non-profits, facilitating action and other involvement by LOCKN’ festivalgoers. Each booth on Participation Row invites attendees to take a simple action that will immediately raise awareness for an organization or its cause. This year, a record 7,692 actions were taken. HeadCount, a non-profit organization that specializes in driving civic engagement at live music events, organized Participation Row with the backing of LOCKN’ as well as presenting sponsor Qello Concerts, the largest streaming library of live concerts and music documentaries.

Participation Row at LOCKN’ 2016 featured 17 non-profit organizations, with 13 from the Commonwealth of Virginia and many based in Nelson County where LOCKN’ has been held each year since 2013. In the end, LOCKN’ 2016 helped generate $19,963.02 for the various Row participants. Each of the non-profits, in addition to the Nelson County Food Pantry, will receive $1,027.24. Participating non-profits include Appalacian Voices, Conscious Alliance, Giving Hope Foundation, HeadCount, Love Hope Strength, Lynchburg Humane Society, MIMA Music, Nelson County Tourism, NORML, North Branch School, Park School, Project GROWS, Recycle Life, Thomas Jefferson Center, United Plant Savers, Wild Virginia, Wintergreen Adaptive, and Nelson County Pantry.

Grateful. Empowered. Inspired. That’s what your generosity means to us. We can’t thank you enough. “Without love in the dream it will never come true.”
