Here’s How LOCKN’ is the Living Festival
In the five years since LOCKN’ emerged on the scene, it has grown through a variety of changes. It was a joy and a challenge to get to know the historical Oak Ridge Estate and Infinity Downs Farm, and to prepare our stages for the likes of Phish, Tom Petty, Gary Clark Jr., Brandi Carlile, and hundreds of other artists who have joined us to make lasting memories. In 2017, we took a major step to centralize the venue on Infinity Downs Farm. It was a fantastic first, and after evaluating the production and absorbing valuable feedback from fans, we’ve made a few tweaks for 2018:
1. The Stages
This year we’ll be offering one Main Stage with continuous music throughout the day and the Relix Stage to close each night. Why? Because you want to chill. You want to claim your space and listen to music all day, and save your hustle for exploring the bike trails or Water Lockn’. For you night owls, don’t miss the late night dance party in Garcia’s Forest.
2. Daytripper Parking
We’ve adjusted our layout to make entering the venue more convenient for guests who choose not to camp.
3. Expanded Venue
We’ve added more space to eat, lounge and listen, with food vendors and Virginia Craft Beer on Draft, all overlooking LOCKN’s Show Field.
4. Upping our Campground Game
We’ve added additional food options, water stations and restrooms throughout the campgrounds.
5. A More VIP VIP
VIP ticket holders can enjoy a new VIP lounge with plenty of perks and privacy, all centralized inside the venue.
6. More Travel Packages and Shuttles
We’ve added more all-inclusive travel packages from Charlottesville and Wintergreen Resort, so you can plan your trip with one click. If you book your own stay, we offer shuttles from Charlottesville, Wintergreen Resort, and Lynchburg.
7. Amazing Collaborations
We’re bringing Branford Marsalis back together with Dead & Co. As if that wasn’t enough, legendary Led Zeppelin Drummer Jason Bonham will be sitting in with Umphrey’s
McGee. Since collaborations are a LOCKN’ tradition, expect to see a lot of spontaneous joining.
Safety has always been our number one priority. Each year we make adjustments based on feedback from our guests and our operations team, and address concerns that have touched our larger music community. This year, we’re asking guests to prepare for slightly slower security lines, as our campground search and venue bag check process will be thorough. We recommend that you fully review our updated list of prohibited items to make sure you are in full compliance with festival policies both in the campgrounds and on the Show Field. Most notably, we are instating a clear bag policy for any bags larger than 4.5”x 5.5” x 9”. Expedite entry and travel lightly into the Show Field!
