If there’s a message that the Grateful Dead can pass on to the world, it’s to be kind, accepting, and forever grateful. LOCKN’s history is rooted in Grateful Dead traditions, and we strive to build a community that unites people in meaningful ways. The Grateful Dead is so much more than the music, more than the song, more than the lyrics, they are part of a shared culture and consciousness that continues to grow and thrive. Here are some lessons we could all use from the band beyond description!

1. Don’t sweat the small stuff.

Hang it up and see what tomorrow brings. Don’t let the silly little things steal your happiness. Whatever happens, happens. Every day is a new chance to change your life.

2. Many times happiness is just around the corner.

Once in a while you get shown the light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right. Be open to changing your mind and being inspired.

3. Karma is real.

If you plant ice you’re gonna harvest wind! Make people feel good about themselves. Do good for others. It will come back to you in unexpected ways.

4. Keep good company.

When there was no dream of mine, you dreamed of me. Time and good friends are two things that become more valuable the older you get.

5. Don’t take yourself too seriously.

If you get confused just listen to the music play! Don’t wait for everything to be perfect before you enjoy your life. Think a little less. Live a little more!

6. Age is only a number.

Just keep truckin’ on! Live your life and forget your age. The older you are, the more experiences you’ve had, and the more shows you’ve seen!

7. Love is the answer

Love will see you through! Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength while loving someone deeply gives you courage.

8. Make every day count.

Inspiration, move me brightly! You will never have this day again, so make it count. Let inspiration take you to your purpose.

9. Change is good.

You just gotta poke around! Life is always changing and evolving, like the Grateful Dead! We shouldn’t resist it. Embrace it and look forward to new adventures.

10. Be grateful.

Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile! It’s a beautiful thing to be alive, to have lungs that allow you to breathe, and ears that allow you to hear beautiful music. Appreciate everything you have and start each day with a grateful heart.
